The Lint Center
Dedicates Newly Created Scholarship to Honor
Corporal
Christopher J. Coffland
WASHINGTON,
D.C., June 29, 2010 – The Lint Center for National Security
Studies, Inc, a non-profit charity, focused on supporting the
educational pursuits of the next generation of America’s
Counterintelligence and National Security Workers, today
formally announced the dedication of its ‘Quest for Knowledge’
scholarship to honor United States Army, Corporal Christopher
J. Coffland. CPL Coffland was assigned to the 323rd Military
Intelligence Battalion and was killed in action during Operation
Enduring Freedom in Wardak Province, Afghanistan on November 13,
2009.
The winner of the ‘Quest for
Knowledge’ Scholarship will receive $500 to cover educational
expenses in addition to a one year subscription to STRATFOR’s
global team of intelligence professionals which provides an
audience of decision-makers and sophisticated news consumers in
the U.S. and around the world with unique insights into
political, economic, and military developments.
“My family and I are pleased that
the Lint Center has seen fit to dedicate a scholarship to honor
my brother’s service and his unending quest for knowledge,” said
Lynn Coffland. “Chris traveled the world finding new and
exciting things; taking him into the world of professional
football in Finland, to Australia as a lacrosse coach, and
eventually to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army. We hope that the
Lint Center scholarship will serve to help another individual
pursue their dreams and continue in their own personal quest of
knowledge, ultimately to make a lasting, positive impact much
like Chris.”
“The Lint Center understands and
values the enormous sacrifice of America’s Armed Forces,” said
James R. Lint, Chairman and CEO of the Lint Center for National
Security Studies. “CPL Coffland’s continual pursuit of knowledge
led him to serve this nation in a time of need. His example and
his ultimate sacrifice is a testament to the commitment and
patriotism of all those who serve this nation in uniform. We are

because his legacy will serve as a reminder to all American’s of
the importance of making a difference in this world though
